Sales Tax Nexus & Registration planning and financial review

What this service is

Since the 2018 Supreme Court decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair, a business can owe sales tax in a state simply by selling enough there, no office or employees required. Each state sets its own sales threshold and decides which products and services are taxable. We find out which states you have crossed the threshold in, confirm what you sell is taxable there, register you, and then file the recurring sales tax returns, while reconciling sales made through Amazon, Etsy, or other marketplaces that already collect tax for you.

What we actually do

Run an economic nexus study

Compare your sales and transaction counts by state against each state's current threshold.

One-time, then quarterly

Determine taxability

Confirm whether each product or service, including SaaS, digital goods, and services, is taxable in each state.

One-time

Register in the right order

Obtain sales tax permits and, where past sales created exposure, evaluate voluntary disclosure before registering.

As needed

Prepare and file returns

File monthly, quarterly, or annual returns in each registered state and reconcile them to your books.

Monthly or quarterly

Reconcile marketplace sales

Separate marketplace-facilitated sales so tax is neither double-reported nor missed.
